John Deere 5405 PowerTech 2WD Price October 2026

The John Deere 5405 PowerTech needs a more careful specification check than a simple search for “5405 price”. This review concerns the Indian TREM IV, open-station 2WD tractor. Older GearPro material and the AC cab version should not be used interchangeably when comparing dealer stock.

Which engine specification is correct?

The Indian model heading and the PowerTech series brochure identify the 5405 as 63 HP. The website's expandable engine paragraph repeats 57 HP, creating an internal inconsistency. We use the model-specific brochure column, which also identifies a three-cylinder turbocharged, intercooled engine with high-pressure common-rail injection. We do not reproduce the conflicting power figure. Sources checked on 30 September 2026: model page and PowerTech brochure.

For a buyer, the practical next step is to have the dealer put the full PowerTech designation and selected build on the quotation. If the offered tractor is old stock, request its own specification and documents instead of assuming the latest webpage describes it.

Match transmission to the work pattern

This record uses the 12F/4R GearPro configuration as its reference. Deere also lists PowrReverser and creeper alternatives. Do not count all three as equipment on one tractor. Frequent forward/reverse work, very slow implement travel and ordinary field passes are different purchase requirements.

For a loader proposal, ask for approval of the complete installation, hydraulic supply, ballast and axle loading. For slow planting, identify the required ground speed at the implement's operating rpm. For rotary tillage, use the implement maker's PTO-power requirements; engine horsepower is not a substitute for a verified PTO rating. Our implement selection guide helps assemble those details before visiting a dealer.

An unresolved hydraulic difference

The current model page advertises 2,500 kgf lifting capacity, while the linked series brochure lists 2,000 with 2,500 optional. Consequently this record leaves the numerical lift field unfilled. Ask which system is fitted to the quoted tractor and obtain the rating in writing. Buying a heavy mounted implement on the assumption that the larger number is standard would be premature.

Also check the loaded implement's centre of gravity and permitted ballast. A headline lift force does not establish front-end stability during transport. Have the actual combination assessed, including seed, fertiliser or other consumables it will carry.

Open station, cab and the ownership plan

The brochure separates the open tractor from its cab counterpart, including fuel-tank and tyre specifications. This card uses the open-station column. If a cab is part of your requirement, compare a complete cab quotation and confirm access height, visibility and service needs separately.

Ask the local dealer who provides diagnostics and what routine filters and fluids are stocked for the exact engine. The model page mentions an extended engine service interval, but that does not mean every component can wait for the same interval. Obtain the supplied manual's initial-service, calendar-time and operating-condition requirements.

Price comparison without a misleading range

A verified price for this exact Indian build was not available. Request the ex-showroom amount in INR, then separate transmission options, hydraulic equipment, protection equipment and additional on-road charges. Compare that complete package with another tractor capable of doing the same work. A monthly instalment alone cannot show whether the extra equipment is worth buying.

Our verdict: John Deere 5405 PowerTech 2WD

Verdict by the Aglist editorial desk

Consider the 5405 PowerTech 2WD when the proposed attachments and work pattern justify this engine class and the dealer can document the exact build. Settle transmission choice and hydraulic rating before booking. Compare a 4WD alternative if field traction is the concern; compare a different gearbox if operating speed is the concern. This is a source-based purchase analysis, not a field test or a guarantee of fuel savings.

John Deere 5405 PowerTech 2WD — What works / What to watch

What works

  • Indian brochure distinguishes current PowerTech engine and operator-station configurations
  • Several transmission choices can be evaluated against specific tasks
  • Common-rail engine configuration is explicitly identified

What to watch

  • Website and brochure disagree on whether the higher lift rating is standard
  • Cab and open-station specifications must be kept separate
  • No measured fuel-use or verified configuration-specific price available

What farmers use it for

Best for: Buyers planning a specified tractor-and-implement package who can resolve gearbox and hydraulic choices with their dealer.

John Deere 5405 PowerTech 2WD — Frequently asked questions

Why does the page use 63 HP when one website row says 57 HP?

The Indian model heading and the model-specific PowerTech brochure column agree on 63 HP. The expandable website row conflicts with them; it has not been copied into this record.

Is the higher hydraulic lift rating guaranteed on every 5405?

The current model page and linked brochure differ on standard versus optional fitment. Ask the dealer to confirm the fitted system in writing; the numeric catalogue field is intentionally unfilled.

Is this the AC cab version?

No. This card describes the open-station 2WD scope. Cab equipment and its tank or tyre specifications should be checked against a separate quotation.

Are all listed transmissions included?

No. GearPro, PowrReverser and creeper refer to configuration choices. The dealer must identify which gearbox will be delivered.

Can I use a quoted engine service interval for the entire tractor?

No. Use the actual operator manual for each component, the first service and any calendar or severe-duty requirements. A headline engine interval is not an all-component schedule.
