This review covers the conventional Eicher 480 2WD, not the Prima G3 or 4WD versions. It uses a three-cylinder, 2500 cc water-cooled Simpson engine in the 45 HP class. Keep that exact version on the quotation: a shared 480 badge does not make transmission, tyres and dimensions identical across the family.

Specify the controls you will actually receive

Eicher lists an 8F + 2R partial constant-mesh gearbox, single or dual clutch, and centre shift with side shift optional. Brakes are multi-disc oil immersed. Mechanical steering is listed with a power-steering option, so a portal describing only power steering should not replace the manufacturer’s configuration choices. Have the dealer demonstrate the selected clutch and steering on the supplied build.

Tyres change the meaning of the speed figure

The standard rear tyre entry is 13.6 x 28, with 14.9 x 28 optional. Eicher attaches the published 32.31 km/h forward speed to the larger rear tyre. That is a configuration-specific maximum, not a recommended working or road speed. For access planning, the listed width is 1700 mm and wheelbase 1910 mm; measure the delivered tyre setup and attachment rather than borrowing Prima G3 dimensions.

The standard PTO point is 540 rpm at 1944 engine rpm, with multi-speed and reverse optional. The Category 2 linkage lift is 1650 kgf with lower links horizontal.
